SEAN GRANEY

Sean Graney is the Artistic Director and Founder of The Hypocrites. Sean has directed most of The Hypocrites productions. He was born and raised in Boston. He received his BFA in Theater and Writing from Emerson College in Boston. He won a Joseph Jefferson Citation and After Dark Award as Director of Machinal by Sophie Treadwell. He was nominated for Joseph Jefferson Award a few times for adaptation, but never won. He is a current recipient of the NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Directors. He was called Chicago’s Best Avant-Garde Director by Chicago Magazine and Chicagoan of the Year (in Theater only) by the Chicago Tribune. He is very approachable, so please send him an e-mail if you feel like it. Please try to keep the e-mails constructive; receiving e-mails designed to induce shame makes him very sad.

HEATHER CLARK

Heather Clark (Executive Director) is excited to be a Hypocrite and play a role in bringing The Hypocrites’ work to Chicagoland. She recently joined The Hypocrites as their first full-time staff member. Heather handles all of the company’s fundraising, marketing, press relations, and financial management. It is an exciting role within a company that has a lot of growth ahead of it. Previously Heather worked for Redmoon Theater as their Operations Manager for 2 ½ years. While at Redmoon, Heather served a multitude of different areas of the company. Highlights of her time with them included assisting Artistic Director Jim Lasko, growing the administrative intern program, managing the company’s financials, and working with the Board of Directors. In addition Heather planned Spectacle Lunatique 2007, which was the most successful fundraising event in Redmoon’s history. Held at Architectural Artifacts, the gala benefit raised over $215,000 in support of Redmoon’s signature spectacle theater. Heather also worked with Dog & Pony Theatre Company, serving as their Managing Director. In her free time Heather volunteers with her alumni club, serving as the co-president, and as a soccer coach with Urban Initiatives, a soccer and wellness program serving elementary school youth in disadvantaged public school districts.
