MECHELLE MOE |
Mechelle Moe is a founding member of The Hypocrites and has served both as executive and managing director for the company. In 2003, Mechelle was awarded both a Joseph Jefferson Citation and After Dark Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of the Young Woman in Sophie Treadwell's Machinal. Aside from her acting credits with The Hypocrites (The Bald Soprano, Machinal, Angels in America, 4.48 Psychosis, The Glass Menagerie, Arcadia, Rhinoceros, The Cherry Orchard, etc.), Mechelle has worked with Steppenwolf, The Goodman, Writers, Timeline, A Red Orchid, The Factory Theater, Lifeline and PROP. She has also been featured in the independent feature SLAVE and the mockumentary short Helping the Clueless. She was the editor of Chicago's entertainment bi-weekly trade paper PERFORMINK from March 2000 to May 2004 as well as three editions of "The Book: An Actor's Guide to Chicago." She has worked as a teaching artist for various organizations including the University of Illinois at Chicago in collaboration with the Chicago Public School system at Gallery 37, After School Matters, and Lookingglass Theater. She currently is a researcher/writer for the Department of Cultural Affairs' Chicago Artists Resource website. Mechelle received a BA in Theater and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Illinois, Chicago. She is currently on stage at Timeline in Clifford Odets' Paradise Lost, and will making her debut at Court Theater in Joe Orton's What the Butler Saw later this fall. |
