While still early in his career O’Neill risked popular success with a turn toward experimental Expressionism, trying to capture tragedy of the working man as Capitalism grew in America. The Hypocrites add their own expressionist twist to this piece, produced as part of the O’Neill in the 21st Century festival.

The Hypocrites close their 12th Anniversary Season with a new
adaptation of one of the oldest stories known to man, Sophocles’ epic
tale of Oedipus Rex. Artistic Director Sean Graney adds his own twist
with the premiere of his adaptation of this classic tale.
Artistic Director Sean Graney directs all three of the new 2008 – 2009 Season’s productions.
