2005-2006 SEASON

FALL 2005
DEATH OF A SALESMAN by Arthur Miller
Directed by Sean Graney
September 2 - October 16
At The Athenaeum Theater, 2936 N. Southport

Arthur Miller's 1949 classic, Death of a Salesman is perhaps on of the
greatest American plays. What happens when "The American Dream" proves to be
an illusion? Willy Loman, a salesman at the end of his career, must face the
fact that the reality of his life falls far short of his dreams for himself
and his family.  Haunted by his past choices and relationships, he tries to
cope with the overbearing reality of his failure as a Salesman, a Husband
and a Father.

WINTER 2005:
 4.48 PSYCHOSIS by Sarah Kane
Directed by Sean Graney
November 10 - December 18
At The Steppenwolf Garage
A Steppenwolf Theatre Visiting Company Initiative

Take a dark journey through the life of a tormented young woman as she
encounters violence and heartbreak. An intensely personal play, written
months before the controversial young playwright took her own life, the
ominous title refers to the early morning moment when the afflicted mind
is said to assume clarity. 4.48 Psychosis may initially shock and offend,
but its stark poetry and evocative imagery will linger in your mind.

STEPPENWOLF'S VISITING COMPANY INITIATIVE fosters the
growth and development of other Chicago theaters through residencies.
These partnerships allow emerging companies to produce professional theater
with the guidance and support of Steppenwolf's artists and arts administrators.

In the Steppenwolf Merle Reskin Garage Theatre, the company's most
intimate performance space for the next generation of theater artists.

SPRING 2006:
ANGELS IN AMERICA by Tony Kushner
Directed by Sean Graney
At The Baliwick Theatre

Tony Kushner's 1992 Pulitzer Prize winning 2-part masterpiece is a graphic
and epic look at the early days of the AIDS epidemic, the politics of
America in the 1980šs, and how the two intertwined.  Driven to acts of
betrayal and hatred, these helpless characters look for any hope they can
find to survive in the face of hopelessness. At times so grand it seems to
shout from mountain tops and at times so personal it seems to be a subtle
whisper. In spite of the play being set 20 years ago, many of the issues of
government sponsored sexual bigotry ring as frighteningly relevant
today.  We will be performing Millennium Approaches for three weeks,
Peristroika for one week, then both shows in rep for four weeks.
